Markings:. The top of the barrel is marked “I.A.B. GARDONE V.T.-MADE IN ITALY”. The left side of the barrel is marked “CAL. 45/70 US. GOV.”.  The receiver is stamped with several proofs including the date code “BI”. 

Barrel Length: 29” Octagon profile barrel. This rifle weighs 9lbs 9 OZ. 

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a flip down rear notch sight with white aiming reference. The tang has been drilled, tapped and plugged for a tang sight.  Tang sight installed refer to pictures!    

Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is a glazed wood. The buttstock is a straight hand grip, straight comb and has a case hardened colored smooth buttplate. The handguard features a smooth round forend. The LOP measures 14.25? from the front trigger to the back of the buttplate. The wood shows minor scattered lines and small compressions; there are two notable compressions on the right side of the forend. The wood shows no visible cracks or chips. Overall the furniture set is in Very Good condition.  

Type of Finish: The barrel is "Rust Blued" and the receiver, lever, buttplate and hammer are color case hardened.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. The bore and muzzle are very clean. In our opinion the bore rates 9.5/10. 

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The barrel shows a few minor marks, most of which should be easily removable with a proper cleaning. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good + condition.

Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly and the lever feels tight. The falling block has an additional safety behind the firing pin transfer bar that auto engages when the lever is cycled. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
