DESCRIPTION
NSN, circa early 1900’s, 8x52R, 29” round barrel. Rifle is in excellent condition; bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling visible. Left side of receiver is the Koishikawa Arsenal (Tokyo) marking, Siame relied on Japan to make approximately 40,000 of these rifles with many not surviving WWII. Stock has minimal handling and usage wear noted, action is smooth and functions correctly. This is one of the best we have seen in a long time and would fit nicely in any WWII collector!
Koishikawa Arsenal Siamese Mauser 8x52R
This is a Koishikawa mauser chambered for 8x52mm rimmed cartridges. This rifle was made in the Koishikawa arsenal in Japan and has the four cannonballs on the receiver as well as the Chakra crest at the top of the receiver. The barrel is 29” long with better than average rifling for its age. The stock is in good shape along with the stock. This firearm was well preserved!
This rifle has the dust cover and butt plate with the sliding plate for the cleaning kit.
The Siamese Mauser (Type 46/66) was manufactured at Tokyo's Koishiwara Arsenal between 1903 and 1908. It features a unique, Japanese-style dust cover over a 98-type bolt action, originally chambered in R, often modified to R. Serial numbers are typically marked on the receiver in Thai characters, likely requiring expert translation. This rifle has been translated to: 3226
