The Smith & Wesson Model 31 (Regulation Police) is a 6-shot, .32 S&W Long caliber revolver, primarily produced on the I-frame (pre-1961) and later the J-frame (Model 31-1, 1961–1991). Known for its square-butt grip and light recoil, it features fixed sights, a 2-4 inch barrel, and was marketed for police and personal protection. THIS MODEL IS A 31 NO DASH HARD TO FIND!! as is with soft case! plus it seems that possibly it was re-blued many years ago because the trademark plate is worn! Overall condition still better than average!

Production Era: Manufactured from 1948–1991

  • Cartridge: Chambered for the low-pressure .32 S&W Long, making it easy to shoot.
  • Design Features: Features a square butt, serrated ramp front sight, and fixed rear sight.
  • Usage: Regarded as accurate, it was a popular choice for light-recoil, concealed carry, or small game hunting, though it is often considered underpowered for modern self-defense compared to .38 Special alternatives.
  • Distinction: The Model 31 is essentially a square-butt version of the round-butt Model 30Regulation Police revolver.
