This 38 S&W cartridge from Winchester’s respected Super-X label features a 145 grain projectile, by far the most common weight in factory loaded ammo of its caliber. It is a classic lead round nose bullet, the monolithic composition of which supplies rotational stability in flight for great accuracy. This bullet’s round nose profile is also aerodynamic, and because it does away with a copper jacket it is a slightly more economical bullet as well. Please note that lead bullets tend to foul a bore more quickly than their FMJ counterparts, and also may deposit more carcinogenic particles in the air when fired. We’d recommend this round for outdoor use because of that.

This cartridge’s nickel plated brass casing is still supple and reloadable, but benefits performance by facilitating feeding into and extraction from a cylinder as well as helping to prevent tarnishing and corrosion.
